Pre-flight briefing summary

1. Check the weather predictions from GlideMet, London Gliding Club, David Masson (Lasham) or your favourite forecast site.
2. Check the weather:
   • AvBrief weather page.
   • Decode METARs from Worldwide TAFs & METARs on the AvBrief weather page (opens in a new window).
   • Weatherjack's weather data
   • XC Weather. Hover over a wind arrow to see the decoded METARs and forecasts. Opens in a new window.
3. Check satellite images for cloud:
   • UK Met Office: latest UK image in visible and infra-red .
   • UK Met Office: latest European image in visible and infra-red .
   • High resolution visible UK
   • Dundee satellite images
   • MODIS United Kingdom/Ireland subset
4. Check the soundings:
   • RASP forecasts for Great Britain using the viewer. See also parameter explanations, and the RASP home page.
5. Plan a task and alternates.
6. Check the NOTAMS at the National Air Traffic Services Ltd web site or use NotamPlot.
7. If there are NOTAMS for any of the following, check their websites for launch schedules:
   • Bello Mondo - high altitude balloon launches.
   • CU Spaceflight - high altitude balloon launches.
   • EARS - rocket launches.
   • Random Engineering launch high altitude met balloons from the EARS launch site.
8. Go to Cambridge Gliding Club if you need to check member accounts or the the webcam.
