GRS 061

This engine is a very close copy of the Cyclon 06. Both engines fit the same mounting and have the same overall dimensions. Apart from the black anodising about the only external differences from the Cyclon TOP4 are the longer venturi, which is fitted with a flood-off inlet on the left side, and the revised ventral stiffening rib. It has a phenolic retained rear bearing and uses Nelson plugs. It runs at 32,000 rpm with a 4.6" x 3" glass prop on 10% nitro. On the same prop and fuel it is about 1000 rpm down on a Cyclon 06.

This engine first appeared as the GRS FORA 061 in April, 2003 but has not been advertised widely. The original distributor is GRS models, a specialist CL combat supplier, owned and run by George Cleveland. The engines are made to his specification in the Ukraine.

It is also sold by glideTEK, a Minnesota-based distributor.

glideTEK sell Vasi's carbon fuselage front end, foil tail boom and a matching motor mount, which fits the Cyclon 06 as well as the GRS 061.

The mount fits a fuselage with an ID of 26.29 mm (1.035"). The clamp ring extends 12 mm (.468") inside the tube and projects 6.3 mm (.247"). The mount OD is 27.35 mm (1.077"). The overall mount length is 25 mm (.990"). The motor mount is a push fit in the clamp ring. The complete mount weighs 11.6 g bare or 15g with flood-off and T-fitting installed. The similar looking Galbreath Cyclon mount is designed to fit the Oliver front end, which has a bigger ID than the glideTEK fuselage: the two mounts are not interchangeable.

glideTEK also have a range of 150 mm carbon folding props that would suit the GRS 061 or the Cyclon 06 and a 140 mm version for the Cyclon 049, which it turns at around 29,000 rpm. A spinner, which fits both engines, is also available. It is 24mm OD and is retained by screw with an 8mm radius nose. It weighs about 3 grams. Fitting it eliminates the shakes that result if you use a starter with the standard prop nut.
