Energy futures

In early 2005 a number of things, including the short-sighted views and half-truths being put about by people who should know better, came together and triggered the following short rant. After I'd got that off my chest I took more time to flesh it out and created the longer version.

There are two references in the longer version that deserve much wider recognition than they seem to have achieved:

• Association for the Study of Peak Oil & Gas is a group of oil analysts and academics who study the oil-based economy and are independent of the oil Industry.
• Nuclear Power: the Energy Balance by Jan Willem Storm van Leeuwen and Philip Smith. This documents the widely ignored fact that nuclear generation is not a carbon-free energy source and that uranium ores are much more limited than generally supposed.

Feedback on this site is welcomed. So is documented additional material, corrections and/or refutations. Stuff that lacks documentary evidence and/or references will be ignored.
